Priest Heys was a house. It appears in maps of Accrington, Lancashire from the 1840s until the 1980s. Then it disappears.

I have no pictures of the house, but I know the place. it is a vacant space - bits of brick wall, annual and perennial plants. A place of rubble with its rubble community, surrounded by a high fence.

Between 1840-1890 my great great grandparents lived here, as the house was encircled and nearly smothered by the growth of industrial Accrington. They had 8 children, 6 of whom died in young adulthood.
The site is the fulcrum of my ideas about time and place. I am exploring it through writing, sketching and textiles.
